Create real time dashboards with datasources and data fragments

Before you start uploading data, you must understand what lies behind the words datasource and data fragment and how you can take advantage of these concepts to create real-time dashboards.

A datasource defines the structure of the data you’ll store (e.g. column names, column data types). A datasource may contain one or several data fragments.

A data fragment contains the data itself.
For example, every time you upload a file to a datasource, a new data fragment is generated. All data fragments belonging to the same datasource must have the same column structure.

To sum it up:  a datasource is made of several data fragments having the same commun column structure.

Now, let’s move on to listing how you can use data fragments to create real-time dashboards:

  1. Create your dashboard
  2. Set up your datasources (the structure of the data that you want to import into Jolicharts)
  3. Design charts and data visualizations on your dashboard.
  4. Set up the Jolicharts API to update your data (the API will can send JSON data fragments to a given dashboard).
To update your dashboard in real-time you can create a new data fragment on Jolicharts every time your own application generates new data.
